Renew Your Strength: A Monday Verse for the Mom Who's Already Tired

Petal KitchenOctober 5, 20265 min read

"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

— Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

Monday morning. The alarm went off and honestly? You didn't feel ready.

Maybe the baby was up at 2 AM. Maybe the toddler decided 5 AM was playtime. Maybe your mind was already racing through the to-do list before your feet even hit the floor. Breakfast, lunches, backpacks, the laundry you forgot to switch yesterday, the dinner you haven't thought about yet.

And somewhere in the middle of pouring cereal and finding matching socks, you thought: I'm already tired and the day hasn't even started.

Mama, can I tell you something? That feeling? It's not a failure. It's not weakness. It's just the reality of being the person who holds everything together for everyone else. And it's exactly where this verse meets you.

What This Verse Actually Means on a Monday

Isaiah 40:31 isn't about having endless energy. It's not about being superwoman. It's about where you go when the energy runs out.

"Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength." Not those who push harder. Not those who try again. Not those who white-knuckle their way through the day. Those who hope — who trust, who lean in, who believe that God sees the work no one else notices.

The Hebrew word for "renew" here literally means to exchange — like swapping out what's depleted for something fresh. You give Him your exhaustion. He gives you His strength. Not a pep talk. Not a coffee refill. Actual, real renewal.

And look at the progression: soar, run, walk. Sometimes you'll soar — you'll feel like you can conquer the day. Sometimes you'll run — steady and moving. And sometimes? Sometimes you'll just walk. And that's enough. Walking and not fainting is still victory.

What This Looks Like in Your Kitchen This Week

1. Start Your Morning Before You Start Your Morning

Before you check the phone, before the first "Mom!" of the day, take one minute. Just breathe. Tell God you're tired and you need Him. That's not a big spiritual production — it's just honesty. And that's where the exchange begins. Your kitchen will look different when you walk into it already anchored instead of already behind.

2. Let Your Kitchen Be a Place of Provision, Not Pressure

The kitchen is where Monday hits hardest. Lunches to pack, breakfast to make, dinner to plan. But what if you let the kitchen be where you experience God's provision instead of where you feel the pressure? You're not just making sandwiches. You're providing for your family the way He provides for you — faithfully, generously, without complaint. The meal doesn't have to be perfect. It just has to be made with love. He honors that.

3. Plan Ahead So Monday Doesn't Break You

Here's something practical: tired Mondays are harder when you don't have a plan. You're already running on empty, and now you have to figure out dinner too? That's where a little Sunday prep goes a long way. Even five minutes of planning — what's for dinner Monday, what lunches look like this week — can be the difference between walking through your day and fainting in it. This is literally why I built Petal Kitchen. Not because moms need another thing to do, but because having a plan means you can show up from a place of rest instead of a place of panic.

A Short Prayer for Your Monday

Lord, I'm tired. You know I'm tired. But I'm trusting You with this day — this kitchen, these kids, this to-do list that feels too long. Exchange my exhaustion for Your strength. Help me soar when I can, run when I need to, and walk without fainting. Let my family taste Your goodness in the meals I make. Let my kitchen be a place where Your provision shows up. Amen.

Here's the thing about Mondays: they come every week. The exhaustion comes every week. But so does His renewal. You don't have to muster it up. You just have to hope in Him and let Him do the exchanging.

If you're standing in your kitchen this morning, already tired and already behind — you're in the exact right place for this verse to do its work. He renews. You just show up.

And if you want a little help showing up — a plan for dinner, a way to match recipes to what's in your pantry, a tool that takes one thing off your plate — that's what Petal Kitchen is for. Not because you can't do it all. Because you weren't meant to. 🌸

Come plan your week with us at petal-kitchen.com →
